My Yoga
My transition from dancer to yogi was immediate.
A friend invited me to my first hot yoga class and I let the deep heat enveloped me.
I felt warm and grounded in ways my cold and exhausted body had never let me feel before.
I knew instantly that I had to make room for this in my life.
The sequence is always the same.
Yet I'm the one who changes.
My spine, my energy, my thoughts.
I've cried on my yoga mat.
And I've been impatient.
I've been grateful.
And I've been humbled.
Sometimes I crawl into class depleted but somehow leave clear-headed and strong.
My yoga showed me I could respect my body even if it was disappointing me.
And all I ever had to do was keep showing up.
